ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sarah is an Artist & Photographer who completed her MA in Documentary Photography from UWCN in 2006.

Sarah's practice has included community, personal and commercial art projects, and she is particularly interested in exploring the visual landscape.

Based in Newport she works with photography, textiles, story and site-specific installation.

Scale, texture and form can abstract the familiar and challenge our understanding of both the post-industrial and natural landscape, as one evolves into the other and back again.

ABOUT THE WORK

Sarah’s expertise in the project workshops at the Environmental Resource Centre in Ebbw Vale led to the poster for the Discover the Valleys project and it is a cyanotype created by her and the workshop participants.

ABOUT THE AREA

The Environmental Resource Centre (ERC) was the first building to be completed through support from  Valleys Regional Park as part of the redevelopment of the former steelworks site in Ebbw Vale in 2010.

The centre, run by the Gwent Widllife Trust, is located on an ecologically rich site next to the Pumphouse cooling ponds, which have become a haven for wildlife since the closure of the steelworks.
